Stour and Orwell Society

A Society Dedicated to Preserving and enhancing the environment of the Stour and Orwell AONB

THE STOUR AND ORWELL SOCIETY

The inaugural meeting of The Stour and Orwell Society (SOS) was held on 12th December 2006 at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Woolverstone. There were some 90 people in attendance to hear Tom Hill outline the aims and objectives of the proposed society and there was a unanimous vote to proceed with the process of formally establishing SOS.

To this end, interim officers were elected and there were eight volunteers to
sit on an interim committee.  Griff Rhys-Jones has kindly agreed to be the society’s patron.

The officers are:

Chairman    Tom Hill                   (Bentley)
Treasurer    Stephen Clark         (Stutton)
Hon. Sec.    Rodney Chadburn   (Tattingstone)

Committee Members:

Annie Eaves
Geoff Sinclair
Jeremy Pertwee
Susanna Bishop
Rosemary Raddon
Simon Marchant
Tony Roberts
Mike Wilkie

The prime objective of the committee is to take things forward to the point where SOS will be formally constituted at the first AGM that will be held in the spring of 2007. Any more volunteers who are prepared actively to help with the setting-up phase of SOS will be welcomed.
