Plans to double the size of Stansted Airport with a second terminal and runway have now been made by BAA in a formal planning application to Uttlesford District Council. They hope to have the new development up and running by 2015 serving 68,000,000 passengers. The application has been made despite the fact that BAA are still waiting to hear whether they can increase the number of passengers using Stansted single runway from 25,000,000 to 35,000,000 passengers (click to open pdf of press comment).
